Background & Philosophy

How I think about systems.

Most software fails not because engineers can't write code, but because they build the wrong layer of complexity. Having founded three ventures before joining Huawei, I've experienced technology from both extremes: the scrappy founder fighting for day-one cash flow, and the enterprise telecommunications engineer where a single script error can compromise regional mobile coverage.

At Huawei Technologies, I work inside the Professional Services Department on major national infrastructure projects—including Vodacom Spring 6, TTCL Rural Coverage, UCSAF Phase 8, and the Tanzania Railway Corporation (TRC) SGR GSM-R network. My mandate has centered on automating workflows that previously relied on manual human intervention.

When I work with founders as a Fractional CTO, I bring this exact operational rigor. I don't recommend enterprise microservices when a monolithic PHP or Node architecture deployed on robust infrastructure will scale to your first 100,000 customers. My philosophy is grounded in simplicity, verifiable metrics, tight feedback loops, and absolute respect for customer trust.

Huawei Technologies (T) Limited — Professional Services

Recruited through Huawei's competitive Campus Recruitment Programme. Deployed on high-stakes national connectivity initiatives including Vodacom Spring 6, TTCL Rural Coverage, UCSAF Phase 8, and TRC Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) GSM-R. Developed the custom Site Solution Generator automation reducing site design turnaround from 45 minutes to 3 minutes per site with 0% error. Conducted remote integration for 50+ rural sites and managed RF optimization via MML scripting.

2025 – Present

OSS Automation Platform Lead (Airtel Tanzania Project)

Huawei Technologies / Airtel Tanzania

Designed and deployed a local-first, dual-module browser application consolidating equipment licence management and live alarm classification across two iMaster MAE OSS deployments (Mwanza and Dar es Salaam). Replaced manual spreadsheet operations with automated Excel/CSV ingestion, shift-handover summaries, and difference analyses, cutting report generation from hours to minutes.

2025 – Present

Founder & Principal Architect

Shop by Isaiah (shop.isaiah.me.tz)

Designed, built, and launched a dedicated e-commerce engine customized for the Tanzanian business environment. Architected a 20+ module management suite handling inventory tracking, live Snippe mobile-money checkout with HMAC-signed webhooks, courier dispatch, purchase orders, automated thermal receipt generation, and NextSMS notifications.

Code of craft

Four engineering principles I swear by.

Simplicity is a security feature

Every dependency you avoid is an exploit you never have to patch. Clean, well-structured native code will always run circles around bloated framework abstractions.

Test on 3G before you celebrate

East African connectivity is heterogeneous. An application that looks beautiful on fiber but freezes on a spotty mobile connection is not production-ready.

Local-first whenever humanly possible

Zero server dependencies means zero cloud bills, zero latency, and zero data leakage. If a task can run in the browser's IndexedDB, build it there first.

Measure time in minutes, not estimates

Don't guess how much an automation saves; stopwatch it. True engineering value is proven through quantified operational turnaround and defect eradication.
